Manulife All-In Banking Package Review

Do you ever wish there were a simpler way to bank? What if everything you needed financially, from a chequing and high-interest savings account (HISA) to a credit card, plus travel insurance, was offered in one neat and tidy banking package?

Well, search no more, because Manulife offers just that in their All-In Banking Package. While the company is typically known for its insurance products, they are jumping into the land of financial solutions for everyday customers who want more for their money and finances. The All-In Banking Package provides clients access to four quite different financial products, all in one place.

First off, All-In offers you a daily bank chequing account where clients gain access to unlimited transactions (including electronic transfers, bill payments, debit purchases, and withdrawals), as well as no fee-access to 3,500 bank machines in Canada (that are linked to the Exchange ATM network); all for the low fee of $10, monthly, which is waived if your savings grow by $100 within any single month. Clients also get an overdraft protection to help with anything unexpected that comes through the account; thus, no added NSF fees.

There is also the HISA component within All-In where you gain access to unlimited transactions, including electronic transfers, with a 0.15% interest rate. While there are HISAs offered at other non-traditional financial institutions out there paying a higher rate, this number still beats what is provided at the major Canadian banks right now.

An added feature that may attract clients to Manulife’s All-In, is the no annual fee cash-back Visa provided in the package. Clients gain access to 5% “cash-back” rewards for grocery purchases during the first three months, and 2% after that welcome offer ends. In addition, there’s a 1% cash earning on all other charges to the Visa, and clients get added perks like purchase protection (against theft, loss, or damage for up to 90 days), extended warranty on items (up to one added year), as well as travel accident insurance! All these rewards and benefits are bundled up in a Visa with no fee that needs to be paid each year, which is a massive bonus.

Lastly, travel disruption insurance is tacked onto Manulife’s All-In Banking Package, which is a great plus, especially for those who travel for business, pleasure, or both, on a regular basis. The insurance covers clients, as well as up to two travelers who accompany you, for up to $2,000 each travel trip, totaling to $10,000, annually. While credit cards do offer travel disruption insurance, no other bank account provides this type of travel coverage that is linked to their packages.

Another neat extra Manulife is currently offering with this plan is their Amazon Prime “welcome” promotion. Sign up and use the All-In Banking Package and receive one free year of Amazon Prime. If you are already a Prime member, next year’s membership is on Manulife. To be eligible, clients are required to make five-plus bill payments or purchases on their account within the first two months of opening their All-In.

Manulife’s All-In Bank Package certainly can streamline the process of handling your finances, as it is “all” in one place. Clients can take a glance at their balances, both saving and spending, all in one spot, including their credit card. Add in the fact that the company offers innovative online tools, as well as a mobile app, to help with budgeting, tracking, and saving, as well as your own virtual assistant (in the form of MAI – Manulife Artificial Intelligence), and it can seem that much clearer as to why many are moving towards this product. In fact, their MAI feature doesn’t only help clients stay focused on goals, but is much like a “personal” finance assistant that also helps you gain insight on your habits with spending, helps to answers your finance questions, and can even tell you where the closest bank machine is. Suri, step aside!

The idea of being able to have a chequing and HISA in the same spot, as well as a rewards credit card, plus comprehensive travel insurance coverage, with innovative online applications to help tie everything together, makes this banking package a major draw.
