Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ Mastercard® Review

Are you looking for a high-quality credit card? Then, the Citi / AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite Mastercard is worth checking out. It is the most rewarding for American Airlines flights with many bonuses and perks but that is not all. American Airlines perks include priority boarding and easier shipping. There are great mileage bonuses for you if you are looking to fly with American Airlines a lot. But the perks should be more diverse; most of them are somewhat similar and it is expensive at $95 annually. You will need to use this card a lot to get real value.

    Fees and Expenses

    • Mileage bonuses give you 60,000 miles for $3,000 spent in the first 3 months.
    • 7,500 miles off award flight redemptions for specific locations
    • $95 annual fee is waived for year one.
    • Not great for anyone who intends on charging less than $30,000 on it.

If you are someone who does a lot of flying, then you can tap into the bonuses and benefits that this offers and make those business trips a bit cheaper moving forward.

Who is the card for? That really depends. Most people believe that the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ Mastercard® is only good for them if they are a regular flyer with American Airlines. However, that is not really the case; this is a card that would be a fine choice for most flyers.

Why? Because it helps to make all your AA flights even more pleasant without limiting your options. You can build up a loyalty portfolio for future trips.

You get two miles for every dollar spent with AA, and one mile for purchases elsewhere. There is no cap on airline miles per year, either, unlike other cards. This makes it quite easy for you to rack up the benefits quickly if you are a frequent flier.

You can redeem those miles for things like premium cabin bookings for a more enjoyable flight.

You get 25% off a whole range of purchases on the flight itself. This means that you can get cheaper in-flight food and drinks. Your first bag is checked for free on all domestic flights.

    Improvements Needed:

    • The annual fee of $95.00 is high.
    • Inflight purchases are limited.

What We Like: Good flight discounts

10% of your redeemed miles are given back to you. With 10,000 miles per year rebated back to you as the maximum, that offers a lot of extra value other cards simply do not.

You also get to enjoy trip delay and trip cancellation insurance- up to $500-5,000 back per traveler, per trip.
