IHG Rewards Club Select Review

Offered by Chase, the IGH Rewards Club Select credit card offers account holders the opportunity to earn rewards at over 5,000 hotels around the world. Unlike other rewards programs that are offered through casino credit cards, users are also allowed to combine rewards points and cash to redeem rewards. This makes it easier to maintain the account for the earned rewards tiers that are available.

New account holders with the IHG Rewards Club Select credit card qualify for 60,000 bonus points. This reward is granted after spending $1,000 on purchases within the first 90 days of opening the account. Another 5,000 bonus points are offered when new authorized users are added to the account and they make a purchase within 90 days as well.

There are multiple point-earning opportunities that are offered with this casino credit card.

    • Earn five points for every $1 that is spent when staying at any IHG Hotel around the world.
    • Earn two points for every $1 that is spent on fuel, groceries, or at qualifying restaurants.
    • Then earn one point for every dollar spent on other purchases.

If a Rewards Club bonus points package is booked as part of a hotel stay, then 1,000 bonus points per night are awarded to the account.

All account holders qualify for a free night every year they keep this credit card active. A 10% point rebate is also automatically applied to every redemption.

How to Qualify for Platinum Elite Status with the IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card

IHG Hotels runs a rewards program for hotel stays that falls outside of the boundaries of this credit card. This does mean that you will be using this credit card and a loyalty program account simultaneously in this program. In return, all Select credit card account holders are automatically enrolled as a Platinum Elite member through the loyalty program.

For non-account holders, it would take 40 nights or 40,000 points to achieve this status. This also means you will be earning 50% bonus points on top of your base points due to this status.

You also have the opportunity to earn an Elite status level that is above Platinum. You can earn this status by staying 35 nights at qualifying IHG Hotels or earning 35,000 points through the rewards program. In the Elite category, hotel stays earn 10x points every night and you receive an annual points bonus.
