Wyndham Rewards® Visa Signature® Card Review

Do you want to earn a massive amount of rewards points because you stay in hotels or travel lodges on a regular basis? Are you looking for a comprehensive rewards program that won’t charge you an annual fee, but still gives you the chance to earn some things you need? The Wyndham Rewards® Visa Signature® Card offers two solutions from which you can choose that will best fit in with your lifestyle. Earn up to 30,000 bonus points, get up to five free nights, and even get annual bonuses that are enough to get a free night at a Wyndham property.

Which Program Is Right for You?

The Wyndham Rewards® Visa Signature® Card offers you a no annual fee option that will still give you enough bonus rewards for up to two free nights. You can earn 12,000 bonus points with your first purchase and then triple points for every dollar spent at a participating Wyndham property. You will earn double points for the rest of your purchasing needs.

If you are willing to pay a $69 annual fee, then you can earn 30,000 bonus points for up to five free nights. Use your card during the Wyndham Hotel stay and you will receive 5 points for every $1 you spend at a participating property. You’ll also get double points for the rest of your purchases and an annual bonus of 5,500 points on your account anniversary.

Why Choose a Wyndham Rewards Credit Card?

Wyndham has one of the most extensive sets of properties in the world today. Not only are there exclusive resorts, but there are also large hotels and plenty of travel lodges that are available in this Wyndham rewards program. You can stay at a Wyndham Grand Hotel just as easily as you can stay at a Super 8. This allows you to spend your points in a way that best fits your needs at any given time.

The interest rates on the Wyndham Rewards® Visa Signature® Card are also highly competitive. The APR begins at 15.24% and the current maximum that you will pay is 19.99%. This is a variable APR that is based on the Prime Rate on any given month.

These quoted rates may change based on current market conditions, be sure to check the current rates before you apply.

Is the Annual Fee Worth the Cost?

Would you pay $69 every year to gain access to a more comprehensive rewards program? That’s the question which must be asked with the Wyndham Rewards® Visa Signature® Card. If you stay at Wyndham properties consistently or can see yourself doing so in order to gain rewards, then this credit card can pay for itself very quickly. With two more points for every dollar that you spend on the credit card that has the annual fee, the rewards will start to add up fast.

If you only stay at a Wyndham property every now and then, the no annual fee card is probably a better option. You’ll still get the rewards that you want, but you won’t have to worry about spending enough to make up for the annual fee that you would pay.

If you purchase money orders, lottery tickets, or even gambling chips with your credit card, it will be treated as a cash advance and have the higher APR of 25.24%. Beyond that, if you need a comprehensive purchasing solution for your travel needs, the Wyndham Rewards® Visa Signature® Card will meet those needs effectively.

The Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Card

If you have excellent credit, then the Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Card could be the perfect card for you. Offering a 1.2% reward rate and 12,000 bonus points after your first purchase, you are going to get a competitive APR and lots of rewards. It’s accepted wherever the Visa logo is displayed for retailers and is one of the best hotel cards in the industry today.

There are some additional advantages, and perhaps some disadvantages, of using the Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Card. Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of this specific program.

The Pros of the Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Card

There are lots of participating hotels in the rewards program. You have access to hotel rewards at all of Wyndham’s properties with this Visa card. This means you can stay at the Grand Hotels, Garden Hotels, or any of their resorts for free with the right reward. The rewards program also includes the travel motels that fall within the Wyndham family, including popular names like Super 8, Travelodge, Days Inn, and Ramada.

You earn 3x bonus points on your hotel stays at popular brands. Any time you book a Wyndham hotel room with this card, you’ll earn triple points for your stay if you place the charge on your Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Card. Your points will accumulate with every hotel stay, however, regardless of payment method because you’ll be joining the Wyndham Rewards program.

The APR is highly competitive. Upon approval of this credit card, your APR will be 15.24% or 19.99% and it is variable. Cash advances are 25.24% APR variable and the penalty APR rate is 29.99%.

Earn double points on all other purchases. Any purchase that doesn’t include a hotel stay will earn you 2x points for every $1 spent while your account is in good standing.

The Cons of the Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Card

There isn’t an introductory APR promotion. Once approved for this credit card, you will be immediately subject to the variable interest rates that apply.

To earn more bonus points, you’ve got to pay an annual fee. To get the 12k bonus points, you simply need to be approved for the line of credit. To earn 30k bonus points, however, you’ll need to apply for a line of credit that has a $69 annual fee and higher interest rates. In return, however, you’ll earn 5x points on participating hotel stays and 5,500 anniversary points.

No points given on balance transfers. If you use credit access checks or request a balance transfer to the Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Card, then these debt items do not qualify for any rewards points.

If you are approved for a new Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Card, then your card will be shipped to you. In return, you’ll be able to have a comprehensive rewards system that is based on helping you spend your travel dollars more effectively. Earn rewards quickly and pay a competitive APR today and you’ll be enjoying free nights faster than you might think possible.
