President’s Choice Financial® Mastercard® Review

Imagine being able to earn free groceries based on your monthly purchases charged to your credit card. Now imagine being able to earn $20 in free groceries from the moment you are approved. Is that something that sounds worthwhile to you? If so, then the President’s Choice Financial® Mastercard® might just be the credit card you’ve been looking for!

How Do You Earn Reward with the PC MasterCard?

With the rewards program on the PC Financial MasterCard, 10,000 PC points in your rewards account equals $10.00 in groceries. When you are approved for the card, you’ll receive 20,000 points right away. From there, you will earn 10 points for every $1 you spend on grocery purchases, household, and beauty products, plus more, at all participating store locations. You earn 25 points for every dollar spent at Shoppers Drug Mart, 30 points for every litre when filling up at Esso or Mobil gas stations, and 20 points for every dollar spent through PC Travel. You can also earn 10 PC points on every dollar charged to the card when you make purchases anywhere else.

The initial “welcome offer” on the card is 20,000 points, and you can redeem these rewards right away. After that, you can redeem points for groceries once you collect 10,000. President’s Choice designed this program with you in mind – with just $1,000 in purchases each month, you’ll earn $10 in groceries. Instead of paying for items directly through your bank account, you can simply charge them to your PC MasterCard, and then pay off the balance of your credit card at the end of the month. This will help you to earn and collect points that much faster.

What Are the Terms of the PC MasterCard?

An interest-free grace period of 21 days on purchases that are made means you can earn rewards, pay off your card, and not be charged any interest! For balances that do rollover month-to-month: the base APR is 20.97%.

For cash advances, there is a 22.97% APR in place. With prior notice to you, the purchasing APR may be increased to 25.97% based on how you use your card or if there are reductions to your credit score. If you miss payments, a default APR of 25.97% may apply to your account.

The PC Mastercard also offers an introductory balance transfer APR for all new accounts. For the first six months, all qualifying debts that are transferred onto your new PC MasterCard will have a 0.97% APR, unless you miss two consecutive months of payments.

There is a foreign currency transaction fee of 2.5% that applies as a markup to the purchasing price. This is typically applied to purchases made in US dollars and then converted into Canadian dollars but does apply to all foreign currencies as well. For a full schedule of other fees that you may be charged based on your purchasing habits, be sure to read this helpful chart of all the fees involved with the PC MasterCard.

Not only do you unlock a points program that offers tremendous reward value, the PC Financial Mastercard also provides free Purchase Assurance and Extended Warranty. You can add up to four family members as added cardholders on the account; this offers more opportunity to earn points.
