ScotiaGold Passport® VISA Credit Card Review

Do you do a lot of traveling? Whether for business or leisure, the ScotiaGold Passport® VISA Card is your ticket to making your travel funds go further than ever before! When you hold this card, you have the ability to travel any time, anywhere, without restrictions. Are you ready to save upwards of $600 per year just by being approved for this line of credit?

The Passport VISA Provides Comprehensive Travel Insurance

One of the hidden risks of travel are the unforeseen events that can sometimes occur. Whether it is a medical emergency or your luggage just happened to be sent to the wrong city, the ScotiaGold Passport VISA Card provides you with travel emergency medical insurance, lost and delayed luggage insurance, common carrier accident insurance, and even rental car collision insurance.

The protection just doesn’t stop there! Maybe you’re going to be on an extended trip that is 45 days or less. Before leaving your home province, you can purchase extended emergency medical insurance through Scotia Assist to guarantee your protection.

Get 5% Cash Back on Travel Purchases

How much did you spend on your last travel package? If you purchase your next vacation package through the Scotia Rewards Travel Service with your ScotiaGold Passport VISA, you’ll get 5% back on the total amount of your package. That means you’ll save $125 on a $2,500 package! That includes airline tickets, cruises, and pre-package tours!

The rewards don’t just stop at cash back, however, because there is also a rewards program associated with this credit card. You’ll earn 1 point for every $1 you spend in Scotia Rewards. Those points can then be used to enhance your next vacation package or even pay for it all if you have accumulated enough points!

You also gain access to a free card registry service that can help to protect your identity. You simply register all of your credit cards with the service. Then, if you happen to lose your cards or they are stolen, you simply call one number to put a stop on all of your accounts.

Is the ScotiaGold Passport the Right Card For You?

This may be the perfect card for you if you do a lot of traveling every year. Though the annual fee of $110 is an introductory offer, you’ll also get 5,000 rewards points on your first purchase. Considering the savings you receive when you travel, just one vacation package can pay for this line of credit each year and provide you with an additional $400 or more in savings!

The annual fees are tiered, so those 65 and over will experience more savings. APRs for purchases are 19.99% and for cash advances are 21.99%, both highly competitive for a rewards card such as this. If you don’t travel much, a different rewards card may be more to your liking. If, however, you explore Canada and the rest of the world on a regular basis, we highly recommend this card because the savings you experience could be quite tremendous!

    • If you love to travel, then you’re going to love the ScotiaGold Passport Visa card. Not only does it offer 5% cash back on travel purchases that are made through the Scotia Rewards program, but it also has comprehensive travel protections included as well.
    • Other purchases earn rewards at a 1 point per $1 spent rate and these can be turned in for a wide range of products or gift cards. The annual fee for this credit card is $110, but new accounts will receive 5,000 bonus points with qualifying use. A minimum credit line of $5,000 is granted upon approval.
