Crate&Barrel Credit Card Review

The first Crate and Barrel (C&B) opened in 1962 as a retail location geared toward younger couples who needed to furnish their first home. By stocking inexpensive, but stylish, imported products, the company was able to fill a unique niche and enjoy great growth in the years to follow. With over 100 stores in North America currently, C&B has certainly become a household name over the years. This retailer has remained true to its roots, primarily selling furniture and housewares using the same vignette-style displays that they innovated early on. C&B still caters to the same market in most cases, although their sister stores CB2 and Crate and Kids target a younger demographic and families with children, respectively.

Using a Crate & Barrel Credit Card

A Crate & Barrel store card is a retail credit card that allows you to charge purchases and earn rewards in-store and online. Since it is a charge account, the card cannot be used outside of the provider’s stores, so it is not as flexible as normal credit cards.

The Crate and Barrel store credit card offers cardholders a special six-month financing option on purchases of $749+ made at C&B and CB2, online or in-store. You can also earn $20 in rewards dollars for every $200 charged on the card at C&B and CB2 (this excludes the special financing option). In addition, cardholders gain special access to member-exclusive events (including double-reward days), as well as other perks. Managing your account online or via their app is easy. In fact, on the app you can shop, check transactions, make payments, and track your C&B rewards points.

Earn the above rewards, plus more, with the Crate and Barrel Mastercard. Earn 2% back in rewards for grocery purchases, and 1% back for all other purchases. The card has zero annual fees and offers ID Theft Protection, Price Protection, and Extended Warranty. You also gain access to the many added benefits that being a Mastercard holder brings!

Reward dollars collected are redeemed automatically for “Reward Certificates”, which are offered in $20 increments within one to two billing cycles. They are issued through your monthly statement, with a cap of 10,000 reward dollars per cycle.

Any rewards certificates not redeemed within a billing cycle simply are rolled into the next one. They can be used towards C&B and CB2 merchandise and are valid for 90 days after they are issued. There’s no limit when it comes to redeeming your dollar rewards on a purchase; however, the full $20 amount is required to be used when doing so. Stolen, lost, or expired Rewards Certificates cannot be replaced.
