York University Alumni Credit Card Review

York University is the third-largest university in Canada, with over 200 different university partnerships in place. Thousands of students graduate from this outstanding institution every year thanks to its many undergraduate and graduate programs. Degrees for York University can give you a competitive edge in the job market. This school has given you, a graduate, a lot and now you’re ready to give back to it in a meaningful way. That’s why MBNA Canada has created this unique opportunity to provide support with a York University Credit Card.

Why Choose the York University Credit Card?

With every eligible purchase made with this card, MBNA will contribute a donation to the many initiatives offered by your alma mater.

This line of credit is surprisingly competitive. You’ll receive a 19.99% AIR on purchases, a 21.99% AIR on access cheques or balance transfers, and a 24.99% AIR on cash advances. This applies after your promotional AIR offer.

Promotional benefits include the 1.99% promotional AIR on all balance transfers made within 90 days of account approval. This promotional balance transfer AIR is in place for 10 statement cycles.

Rewards are also part of the package. You’ll be able to collect 1,000 bonus points when you make your first eligible purchase with this line of credit. Every account anniversary qualifies you for an additional 1,000 bonus points. At the earning rate of 1 point per $1 spent, that’s like getting $1,000 in reward points every year.

There’s no limit to the points you can earn and they can be redeemed for a wide variety of items.

What Are the Fees of the York University Credit Card

There is no annual fee associated with the York University credit card, but MBNA does have a standard set of fees associated with an approved line of credit. These are:

    • A 2.5% foreign currency conversion fee based on benchmark rates provided by MasterCard at the time of the transaction.
    • A 1% ATM fee applies on cash withdrawals, with a minimum charge of $7.50.

MBNA also charges an inactive credit balance fee on York University credit cards that do not see any purchasing activity for 12 consecutive months. On your anniversary date, an inactive line of credit may be charged $25 or the credit balance, whichever is the lesser amount.

There are a lot of good things that come with the structure of this credit card and, as an alumni, you get to support your school at the same time. Both the Platinum Plus and the standard cards help you support student programs. There’s even more information through the link below.
